Association to support abuse victims to set up soon

The Sovereign Military Order of Celtic Cross (SMOCC) will establish an association to support victims of sexual and domestic abuse in Honiara.

SMOCC representative Jake Sanders says the establishment is a result of discussions held between SMOCC and late Ambassador Moffat Fugui.

Jake Sanders adds that the association is late Fugui’s wish to mitigate sexual abuse and domestic violence on women and girls in Solomon Islands.

“It was a good discussion we had in Beijing and his passing is something that gives me the strength to set up the association with support from a few friends and colleagues in Solomon Islands. We will be setting up this charity association to support victims of violence and abuse especially women and children”, he says.

Sanders says the association will raise awareness and advocate against sexual and domestic violence adding, services will focus on victims and children.

He says the association is in its initial stage and operations will kick-off as soon as the charity organization is up and running.

SMOCC presented the late Ambassador’s wife a token of appreciation in honor of her late husband in a short ceremony that was held at the residence of the late Ambassador.

The late Ambassador’s wife will be the honorary president of the association once it’s fully functioned.

The Sovereign Military Order of Celtic Cross is an autonomous and independent international non-governmental organization whose members apply themselves energetically and selflessly to Christian charitable endeavors.
