PRIME Minister Manasseh Sogavare will officially open Solomon Islands Embassy in Beijing, China this week.

The event will mark Solomon Islands as the latest country to establish a mission in China besides other friends such as the US, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, PNG and Fiji.

Mr. Manasseh Sogavare led a high-level delegation to China late last month.

Sogavare announced in Parliament today 26th June 2023 of the scheduled trip.

He told members that his delegation is expecting to return on 17th July before the Parliament resumes its meeting on 19th July.

It is unclear who will Prime Minister Sogavare meet and discuss, where his delegation will be visiting while in China.

One thing for certain is that, Prime Minister Sogavare and his delegation will spend two weeks in China.

This time, Australia and United States have nothing to say about the trip.

According to reports, Prime Minister Sogavare’s trip to China was scheduled around March this year, however there were delays as Sogavare was busy with other international meetings.
