THE community policing unit of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) stationed at Buala police headquarters in Isabel Province is gearing up to initiate an awareness talks program within the Gao-Bugotu constituency. This initiative aims to foster stronger community engagement and build trust and confidence among the local populace.
According to the Police Media Unit, the Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Isabel Province Sergeant (Sgt) John Lokumana said the awareness program is an important program.
“This program is an integral part of our community engagement plan, wherein our dedicated police officers are tasked with cultivating trust and confidence within our community.”
Sgt. Lokumana appeals to all Crime Prevention Committees (CPCs) to embrace their roles as law-abiding citizens and actively support the police in successfully executing the awareness program. He elaborates on the goals of the initiative, stating, “Our team will elucidate the paramount importance of upholding law and order while emphasizing the principles of the Crime Prevention Strategy. Recognize the value of mutual respect within our community, akin to the respect you hold for yourself.”
Mr. Lokumana further mentions that the awareness team will embark on a week-long journey to various communities in the region. He urges the local population to carry on with their daily activities peacefully, as the Pacific Games 2023, a historic event, looms on the horizon.
He further assures the public that Buala police are currently on standby operations to assist with the voter’s registration process. Their readiness is aimed at ensuring the smooth and successful completion of the registration process, working hand in hand with Solomon Island Electoral officials.
This community awareness program demonstrates the commitment of the Buala police to not only maintain law and order but also to actively engage with and serve their community, fostering a sense of unity and cooperation among the residents of Gao-Bugotu constituency.
