Australian Defence Vessel (ADV) Reliant is in Honiara this week to offload cargo as part of Australia’s security support to the Pacific Games.
At the request of the Solomon Islands Government, Australia will enhance its current security support to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) during the Games period.This includes enhancements to the Solomons International Assistance Force and an increase in personnel.
Australia is committed to supporting the RSIPF deliver a safe and secure Pacific Games.
In addition to ADV Reliant, a number of Royal Australian Air Force flights will arrive in Honiara this week with additional cargo.
Reliant will return to Honiara in November ahead of the Pacific Games.
ADV Reliant has a near-continuous presence in the Pacific to meet the needs of the Pacific family, including to support major events at the request of host governments.
