Videographer arrested and charged for compelled sexual intercourse in Connection to Viral Nude Videos

A videographer linked to the widely circulated nude videos on social media in recent weeks has been apprehended by the Police and charged with compelled sexual intercourse.

According to the Police Media Unit statement, Royal Solomon Islands Police Force’s National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) arrested the man, charged and released on bail.

The suspect has been released on bail and has been appeared before the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on December 6, 2023.

Superintendent Simao revealed that the charges pertain to compelled sexual intercourse, a serious offense under section 136G (a) (b) of the Sexual Amendment Act 2016, carrying a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Stressing the gravity of the situation, Superintendent Simao emphasized the legal implications and called on citizens to uphold respect for others, irrespective of gender, race, or skin color.

He condemned the inhumane nature of the viral video, stating that such behavior has no place in both culture and law. The police-RSIPF is committed to taking action against those who violate established laws.

A plea was issued to social media users to abstain from sharing, engaging in group chats, or posting the video on various platforms. Strong encouragement was given to delete the video upon receipt to protect the victims from further trauma.
