THE Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will be conducting Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) operation in Western Province from 26 July to 3 August 2024.
The operations will cover the following communities.
· Munda, Noro, Baeroko, Enoghae, Tambaka, Sasavele and surrounding areas on New Georgia Island
· Communities on Kohinggo island, the Vonavona lagoon and coastal areas.
· Ringgi, Teme and surrounding areas on Kolombangara Island
Acting Director of the RSIPF EODD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “It is advisable that these mentioned communities report any sightings of UXOs while the team is visiting your areas so that those war remnants can be dealt with accordingly.”
Director Tunuki says, “As part of our UXO reduction campaign, we urged working together with our Police in order to locate, remove and destroy those UXOs that are endangering our lives, property and the environment. Safety is everyone’s business.”
Inspector Tunuki call on the communities in the Western Province and across the country to report any sightings of any bombs through Police free toll line 999, the RSIPF EOD mobile 7495215 or to call in at any nearest Police Stations.
