THE Solomon Islands Basketball Federation (SIBF) is excited to announce the commencement of the Mens and Womens Open Basketball League, set to begin on Sunday, August 11, 2024. This announcement follows an overwhelming response from 30 teams expressing interest in this season’s main league. The SIBF will now undertake a thorough assessment of all participants before finalizing the league details.
To ensure that all clubs have adequate time to complete their final preparations, the SIBF decision to defer the league’s start by an additional two weeks was considered. This deferment will also provide clubs with the necessary time to fine-tune their teams in their trainings and before the game schedule is confirmed.
Meanwhile, in the lead-up to the league’s commencement, the SIBF will host a formal launch event this Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Cow Boys Bar and Grill Restaurant. This corporate dinner aims to officially kick off the league and raise crucial funds to support the management and administration of the season. The event will also serve as a platform for the SIBF to secure corporate sponsors and support from both governmental and non-governmental organizations.
