Forum Officials meet ahead of the Korea -Pacific Islands Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

SENIOR officials from Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) member countries are in the Republic of Korea this week for the 2025 Korea-Pacific Islands Inter-Sessional Meeting.

The meeting will review the achievements of the last Leaders Summit held in 2023, consider progress on implementation and prepare for the 6th Korea – Pacific Islands Foreign Ministers’ Meeting later this year.

The Foreign Ministerial Meeting between the Republic of Korea and Pacific Island Countries was established in 2011.

At their last Meeting in 2022, Ministers agreed to a biennial dialogue, the expansion of the Korea – Pacific Islands dialogue mechanism to include the full Forum membership, and to hold the first Summit at the Leaders level in 2023.

The inaugural Korea – Pacific Islands Leaders Summit in May 2023 marked an elevation in the joint partnership, strengthening engagement and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

In addition to engaging in policy dialogue with the Pacific Islands Forum, the Republic of Korea provides development cooperation through the various projects at the bilateral, multi-country and regional levels.

Republic of Korea has been a Dialogue Partner of the Pacific Islands Forum since 1995.
