THIRTY officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have completed a one-week criminal investigation course conducted by five investigation experts from the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) in Honiara last week.
The training aims to enhance the professional skills and practical capabilities of participants and provides robust support to the RSIPF in addressing increasingly complex criminal activities.
During the course participants covers important topics such as Crime Scene Investigation, DNA Evidence Analysis, Property Crime Investigation, Telecommunications and Cyber Fraud Investigation, Sexual Assault Case Handling and Drug Crime Prevention and Control.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Ian Vaevaso said the training will equip local officers with advanced technical skills that will enrich their professional knowledge and boost their confidence in law enforcement.
CPLT Commissioner, Mr. Liu Shenghuang, said enhancing criminal investigation capabilities is essential for maintaining social stability and promoting justice in Solomon Islands.

“The program will gradually expand to provincial police stations, supporting the development of a modern criminal investigation framework in the country,” Commissioner Liu said.
The CPLT instructors provided in-depth yet accessible explanations of fundamental theories, methods and techniques in criminal investigation, as well as strategies for tackling emerging crimes.
Participants demonstrated high levels of engagement, actively interacting with instructors and sharing their own case experiences, resulting in a dynamic and impactful training environment.
At the closing ceremony, a representative of the participating officers expressed that the knowledge and skills gained from the program will significantly enhance their criminal investigation capabilities and positively impact their daily work.
RSIPF Assistant Commissioner (Crime and Intelligence), Patricia Leta, praised the program’s effectiveness saying the training holds great significance in the face of current policing challenges.
AC Leta emphasized that the training not only improve the professional expertise of investigators but also laid a solid foundation for deeper collaboration in criminal investigation and strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
