北京扶轮社公益晚宴在京举行
呼吁全球关注尿道下裂治疗研究
Beijing, March 15, 2025 – The Beijing Rotary Club held a charity gala at the Kempinski Hotel in Beijing, commemorating its 101st anniversary. Over 200 attendees graced the event, including ambassadors, counselors, and business representatives from Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Slovakia, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, New Zealand, the Solomon Islands, Honduras, Grenada, and other nations. Notable figures from China’s leading media, such as Cai Yumin, director of the Global Times brand department, and Bai Bo, director of domestic and international news department at Beijing Daily, were also present.
In his speech, René Schmitt, President of the Beijing Rotary Club, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from various governments, embassies, organizations, and businesses towards the club’s charitable projects. He emphasized the event’s focus on a treatment program for pediatric urethral defects run by charitable organizations in Hebei, calling for global attention toward this challenging medical condition.

The Rotary Club, one of the most renowned international non-profit organizations for nearly a century, boasts over 12,000 clubs and 1.6 million members across 200 countries and regions. Founded in 1924 by General Cai Tingkai and 22 founding members, the Beijing Rotary Club includes members mainly from over 20 nations, primarily comprising executives, investors, and professionals engaged in disaster relief and child assistance through initiatives like the Hope Foundation and Gift of Life program.
Particular thanks were given to UWEE Group, one of the event’s sponsors, for their support in organizing the dinner.
Representatives from the medical and charitable community in Hebei highlighted alarming statistics, indicating that the incidence of urethral defects can reach 1 in 125 to 250 male newborns. They urged for increased global awareness and research efforts to address this issue.
Fan Kegao, rotating chairman of UWEE Group, stated that the organization is dedicated to promoting global philanthropic efforts, with signature projects such as the UWEE Louvre International Art Exhibition and the Italian Arts Festival aimed at fostering cultural exchange. He encouraged more businesses, both Chinese and foreign, to engage in charitable activities.
Yan Fei, president of UWEE Group, discussed the company’s commitment to advancing multicultural exchanges, interdisciplinary industry integration, and international cooperation in technology, education, trade, and culture.
The gala also welcomed to the stage several attendees, including Li Wen, secretary-general of the China International Chongyang Festival, Zhang Nan, managing director of March Digital Economy Industrial Park, Zhan Ying, general manager of UWEE Group’s Italian division, Zhao Gang, executive dean of the March Digital Economy Technology Research Institute, and Gao Yun, director of teaching at UWEE Group.
Through collaborative efforts and continued awareness, the Beijing Rotary Club is making strides towards addressing urethral defects, fostering international cooperation, and supporting meaningful charitable initiatives.

会长介绍扶轮社(Rotary Club)是近百年来最著名的国际非盈利联谊社团之一,旗下超过1.2万个社团、160万社员,遍布全球200个国家和地区。北京扶轮社创建于1924年,由蔡廷锴将军和22位创始成员共同建立,社员来自20多个国家,以企业高管、投资者和专业人士为主,通过希望基金会、生命礼物计划等参与救灾和儿童救助的慈善活动。
