The Government and Funeral Committee have confirmed that there will be a state funeral and Official Lay-In-State program for the late Sir Francis Billy Hilly, KCMG on Wednesday 19th March 2025. The National Parliament Office makes its preparations according to protocol.
Order of paying of respects of the Lay-In-State at Parliament House will follow the official program and will be outlined on arrival in Parliament precinct to before tributes are paid in the Chamber of Parliament.
Sir Francis was the fourth Prime Minister of Solomon Islands from 18 June 1993 to 7 November 1994. He represented the Rannogga/Simbo constituency from 1976 to 1984. He was also the leader of the opposition from 1994 to 1995.
Solomon Islands within the last week lost two of her former statesmen, the former Governor General, the late Sir David Vunagi and late Sir Francis Billy Hilly.
