The head of policy in the Solomon Islands government clarified that the country’s proposed citizenship by investment program will be managed in a way that never compromises its sovereignty. Prime Minister Jeremia Manele announced last year that the government aims to develop a citizenship by investment scheme to boost revenues, although he emphasized that it remains a work in progress.
In a recent statement, McFaddean Aoraunisaka, from the Office of the Prime Minister, reaffirmed the government’s stance, saying, “Citizenship is a sacred bond between an individual and our nation.โit shall never be commercialized in a manner that undermines our sovereignty, dignity, or identity.”
