Chinese Ambassador Highlights Achievements and Future Collaborations

THE Chinese Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, Cai Weiming, highlighted Chinese achievements and future collaborations during the Chinese New Year celebration at the Chinese Embassy over the weekend.

Ambassador Cai Weiming extended warm wishes to the members of the Chinese communities, Chinese companies, and friends from various walks of life in the Solomon Islands in anticipation of the upcoming Spring Festival, the most significant festival in China.

Reflecting on China’s accomplishments in 2023, Ambassador Cai emphasized the nation’s steady progress toward modernization under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

He highlighted China’s impressive economic growth, marked by a 5.2 percent increase in GDP, contributing 32 percent to global economic growth.

He also noted advancements in education, healthcare, and elderly care systems, showcasing China’s dedication to the well-being of its citizens.

Ambassador Cai pointed out major milestones achieved in 2023, including the successful hosting of the World University Games in Chengdu and the Asian Games in Guangzhou. He also acknowledged the commercial launch of the C919 passenger aircraft and the completion of China’s first home-built large cruise passenger ship.

Underscoring China’s global leadership in technology, the ambassador highlighted domestically developed cellphones and green power vehicles gaining international recognition.

The diplomat delved into China’s major-country diplomacy, placing emphasis on successful head-of-state diplomacy, the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, and President Xi Jinping’s Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative. Notably, China’s role in fostering unity and reconciliation, particularly between Saudi Arabia and Iran, was underscored as a diplomatic triumph.
