HELLO, friends, one article about kidney stone is presenting here. Today we are going to talk about kidney stones symptoms that you need to pay attention. The term “kidney stones” might sound a bit intimidating. Many might wonder, “How would I know if I’ve got them?” If you’ve ever experienced sudden, severe pain at unexpected times, it’s crucial to recognize the early signs of kidney stones.

1. Sudden Severe Pain

One of the most common symptoms of kidney stones is intense pain that appears suddenly. This pain typically occurs on one side of the lower back or abdomen and may radiate downward to the lower abdomen or thighs. Some describe this pain as being akin to stabbing or as sharp as a needle prick, often so severe that it makes it difficult to stay still.

2. Shifting Pain

As the stone moves through the urinary tract, the location of the pain can change. It might start in the back and then move downward to the lower abdomen or even the genital area. This shifting of pain is a sign that the kidney stone is trying to make its way out through the ureters and urethra.

3. Changes in Urine

Kidney stones can cause noticeable changes in your urine. For instance, the color of the urine may become dark or red, indicating blood in the urine. Additionally, if the urine appears cloudier or has a stronger odor than usual, these could also be signs of the presence of stones.

4. Frequent or Painful Urination

When a stone is near the bladder, it may irritate the urethra, leading to a frequent urge to urinate, even though the actual volume of urine might not be substantial. Urination might also be painful or uncomfortable, described by some as feeling a scraping sensation in the urethra.

5. Nausea and Vomiting

Nausea and vomiting are common symptoms in patients with kidney stones, resulting from your digestive system reacting to the pain and irritation caused by the stones. Nausea can persist, not only occurring during episodes of pain. Vomiting may intensify as the pain peaks.

6. Fever and Chills

If a kidney stone leads to a urinary tract infection, symptoms can become more complex, including fever and chills. This happens because the blockage may cause urine to remain in the kidneys or bladder, creating a breeding ground for bacteria. If left untreated, these symptoms can lead to worsening conditions or even severe complications like sepsis.

Although these symptoms can be caused by various health issues, if you experience one or more of these conditions, especially without an obvious cause, it’s advisable to consult a doctor for further examination. Early detection and diagnosis of kidney stones can significantly reduce the pain and potential complications associated with them. Remember, recognizing these signals is the first step in combating kidney stones.
