The staff of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Secretariat joins the Vanuatu United Nations International Court of Justice (ICJ) Climate Victory parade and celebrations in Port Vila on Thursday.
The parade was held to mark Vanuatu’s historic win at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) with the Adoption of a Resolution on Climate Change and Human Rights.
Traditional groups, students, civil servants, the private sector, Foreign Missions and NGOs in the march ended with an official program at Independence Park.
The adoption follows warnings by the UN’ s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) experts that global average temperatures could reach 1.5 C above pre-industrial levels by 2030-2035, reinforcing the urgent need for drastic action.
