Bottles of kwaso confiscated during police operation

POLICE confiscated bottles of kwaso during their high-visibility operations in hotspot areas within Honiara City.

The Police Media Unit said that as part of the preparation for the Pacific Games 2023 (PG23), the police are gearing up their presence in some of the hotspot areas in Honiara to reduce crime.

Last week, a joint operation by the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Honiara City Police and security partners visited crime hotspot areas in Honiara.

During their visit, police confiscated a few 1.5-liter bottles of kwaso (homebrew), but no arrest was made since the suspects escaped before the police arrived.

Supervising Operation Manager, Honiara City Police Inspector Tex Tafoa, said during the operation we visited hotspots and did awareness talks to the market vendors.

Inspector Tafoa said the awareness talks encouraged and urged the market vendors and members of the general public to work together with the police as we prepare for PG23.

Police continue to remind the general public to report any crime to police that may occur at the market or in our communities.

Areas visited during the high-visibility operation were Talise, Borderline, Kobito, and Central Market.
