RSIPF officers on route march living Nukunau community
ON January 16, 2024, officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) stationed at Gizo Police Station demonstrated a commitment to community engagement by organizing a successful friendly volleyball match at Nukunau community in the Western Province.
According to Police Media Unit, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu, the Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for the Western Province, expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating, “Our Community Policing team consistently organizes friendly volleyball matches as part of our weekly sports activities, specifically on Tuesdays. This time, we collaborated with a community actively involved in a Crime Prevention Committee.”
PPC Lenialu highlighted that, beyond the sporting aspect, the Community Policing Team took the opportunity to conduct an awareness talk addressing issues such as the illegal sale of beer, brewing of kwaso, and homebrews. The discussion also covered the associated effects and legal consequences of engaging in such activities.
Chief Superintendent Lenialu emphasized another positive aspect of the engagement, stating, “Upon their return from Nukunau, Gizo police officers participated in a route march to Gizo, serving as a valuable exercise in preparation for our upcoming public order management (POM) training scheduled for February.”
He expressed gratitude towards the leaders of Nukunau community for their collaboration in organizing the games and allowing the police to conduct the awareness talk. Lenialu commended the diverse turnout of individuals of all ages, noting, “The active participation of the community reflects great leadership.”
