100 meters race starts
THE Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province, in collaboration with the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT), has marked a historic achievement by successfully conducting the inaugural police route march in Gizo.
Approximately thirty RSIPF officers, accompanied by three CPLT officers, marched in an organized and disciplined manner, creating a vibrant spectacle as they made their way to Gizo Police Station. The procession commenced at 7 am from Meddean highway.
A notable highlight of the event was the eagerly awaited 100-meter race just before reaching the finishing line. Both male and female officers enthusiastically participated, vying for the top positions. Prizes were awarded to the top three performers in each category, leaving everyone content.
Expressing his satisfaction, Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu, commended the CPLT for the successful organization of the route march. He emphasized the importance of maintaining physical fitness for all Western Province police officers.
Chief Superintendent Lenialu praised the program and extended gratitude to CPLT for their invaluable support and assistance.
Western Province Operation Manager Superintendent Wilken Miriki shared his perspective, stating, “The majority of police officers actively participated in this program, and the march was an enjoyable experience for everyone. It provided an opportunity for us to run together, showcasing our unity and spirit to the community.”
Zima Pikanava, a female Police Constable who secured the first place, expressed her excitement, saying, “Despite the higher number of female police officers in Western Province, we are equally competitive with our male counterparts. Participating in such programs is a first for me, and winning the race and receiving a prize makes it even more special.”
CPLT Chief Instructor and expert Dong Pengpeng emphasized the unity demonstrated during the event, stating, “Wearing the same uniform, marching, and running together, everyone displayed high spirits, morale, and a vigorous pace. This marks just the beginning, as CPLT is committed to providing ongoing support to Western Province police officers in the future.”
The program forms part of CPLT’s assessments in preparation for upcoming training courses and is considered a success in achieving its objectives of enhancing officers’ physical fitness and capacity.
