A man has been arrested by Police in connection to an alleged rape incident involving a 12-year-old girl in North West Choiseul.
According to Police reports the young girl went to the beach alone on March 23, 2024, but failed to return home as expected. Her family conducted a search, but she remained could not find her.
Inspector Elliot Ngilli, the Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Choiseul Province, stated that the matter was reported to the police on March 25, 2024. Following an investigation, it was revealed that the girl had been abducted and raped by the suspect.
The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was charged and remanded at the Gizo Correctional Facility. He is scheduled to appear before the Gizo Magistrates’ Court on a later date.
“Please my good parents look after our little children. Such an incident is really a sad one for our young girls. Take good care of them and make sure we know who they are with and where they go,” says Mr. Ngilli.
