RSIPF Forensics Complete Drug Investigation Training

DC Frank Korai demonstrates Forensic Drug Investigation to DC Peter Vaiti

THE Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has achieved a significant milestone in the development of their Forensic Drug Investigation capability, through the presentation of the Phase 2 Forensic Drug Investigation course in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

The course was presented by Supervising Laboratory Coordinator Detective Constable Frank Korai and marked the first time that RSIPF has taken delivery lead.

RSIPF established their forensic drug investigation capabilities in 2022, with the assistance of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) through the RSIPF & AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).

Since that time, forensic drug analysis has become vital in the investigation of illicit drug offences, particularly as criminal operations become more sophisticated and extend beyond country borders.

By increasing their trained officers, RSIPF are reinforcing their commitment to the detection and prosecution of illicit drug offences, including drug shipments and transnational crime.

As the lead presenter, DC Frank Korai was able to put his training and experience to the test, and was instrumental in the success of the program.

“It is a great achievement to have developed from a trainee to a trainer in the forensic drug investigation field. I am proud to have contributed to the capacity development of my organisation, and I would like to thank the AFP for the support rendered throughout the program,” DC Frank Korai said.

The success of this program highlights the position of the RSIPF as a leading Police organisation in the Pacific.

Deputy Director National Criminal Investigation Department Supervising, Inspector Garnette Kwanairara, thanked and acknowledged RAPPP for their ongoing support in Forensic Drug Investigation Capabilities.
