Police investigate fatal accident involving the death of a young man at the western end of Lunga Bridge

OFFICERS of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department (NTD) are investigating a fatal accident involving the death of a young man at the western end of Lunga Bridge yesterday afternoon (13 April 2026).

Director NTD Superintendent William Foufaka said the accident happened when the dump truck was traveling in a westerly direction at the Lunga bridge and hit the young man.

Superintendent Foufaka said the deceased after the accident was rushed to the National Referral Hospital (NRH), but upon arrival, he was pronounced dead by the medical authority.

Superintendent Foufaka said the NTD investigation team has already arrested the suspect who is the driver of the vehicle involved for further questioning, and laying of charges.

Director NTD Superintendent William Foufaka reminds vehicle drivers and road users to prioritise safety and adhere to Traffic and pedestrian rules at all times.
