Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare MP, today received a courtesy visit from the Pan Oceanic Bank (POB) board of directors.
The POB Board members were led by their chairman, Mr. Upali Del Silva and vice chairman, Mr. Gary Cheah.
Prime Minister Sogavare on the other hand, had the Minister of Finance and Treasury, Hon. Harry Kuma, MP, Secretary to Prime Minister Dr Jimmie Rodgers, Governor of Central Bank Dr. Luke Forau, Deputy Governor of Central Bank, Raynold Micah Moveni and others in attendance.
POB Chairman, Silva and his vice chairman, Cheah used the courtesy call opportunity to brief the Prime Minister on the strict compliances in which POB enforced since its operation to date.
Messrs.’ Silva and Cheah further added that POB has been working closely with CBSI to ensure that it complies with the country’s banking regulations.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare acknowledged the POB board for the update, and also reminded the board of government’s desire to see genuine and quality investment into the country.
Minister of Finance, Honorable Kuma also spoke highly of POB for its perseverance having operated throughout the difficult period of COVID- 19 and riot of November 2021.
After the brief discussion, the POB board chairman and members presented to the government a cheque of $300,000 as contribution to the 2023 Pacific Games. The cheque presentation made POB the first bank to contribute financially to the 2023 Pacific Games.
