MSG SECRETARIAT HANDS OVER T-SHIRTS TO FIJI CYCLONE-RELIEF TEAM

The Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Secretariat handed over t-shirts to the almost 60-member Fiji Rapid Response team currently in Vanuatu to assist with cyclone rehabilitation.

In receiving them, Fiji Rapid Response Team Leader & Commissioner Eastern, Vitale Varo, commended the Secretariat for the support since the team arrived into Vanuatu.

Mr Varo acknowledged the role of the Secretariat and the significance of the existing Melanesian bond that was displayed particularly when a fellow member needed assistance in times of disaster.

Officer-in-Charge, John Palmer said that Fiji’s presence during this time of need is very important and certainly it made the MSG proud.

“You left your families behind to come and help a brother in need which is indicative of our Melanesian spirit of unity,” Mr Palmer stated.

The t-shirts carry the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup 2022 logo which was ordered specifically for the tournament last year.

The team comprises officials from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF)
