Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers have completed a Security Planning Workshop in Honiara recently in preparation for the Pacific Games in November this year.
A police statement confirmed that officers of the National Emergency Management and Special Event Planning Department were trained by the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) at Rove Police Headquarters.
Acting Director of NEMSEP Inspector Harry Poutz Vanosi says the training is timely for the RSIPF.
“I appreciate the training offered by the CPLT with Beijing Summer and Winter Olympics experiences. This workshop is supportive for the whole team to get prepared for the upcoming PG23 and other national operations.
“The RSIPF NEMSEP is responsible for organizing national operations. The one-month RSIPF officers training completed in China in 2022 is impressive and useful including large-scale event planning and control administration. The workshop on PG23 security planning offered by CPLT is more targeted and localized according to the situation here in Honiara,” Vanosi says
The workshop focuses on sharing the experiences and analysis of providing security for such big events by China as they have had that experience during the Olympics in Beijing.
“This workshop focused mainly on sharing Beijing Olympics experiences, briefing of the PG23 security risk analysis, security planning and security operation, and exchanging ideas and experiences in preparation towards the PG23 which soon will be hosted later this year in the Solomon Islands”, Associate Professor, Ph.D. JIA Zhanyun, highlights.
