RSIPF boosted with expertise from CPLT on security event planning in preparation for the PG23

CHINA Police Liaison Team CPLT has conducted another Security Planning for Pacific Games 2023 (PG23) Security Planning Team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) this week.

Police Media Unit said the workshop was coordinated and delivered by experts from China Police Liaison Team, (CPLT) focussing on Safety Management of major events in preparation for the PG23 which will happen  from 19 November to 2 December 2023.

Assistant Commissioner National Operation, Evelyn Thugea also a board member of the Games Organising Committee (GOC) and Chairwoman responsible for Security, said the Host country must provide a certain level of security for the Pacific Games family. 

Thugea said the mandate of the RSIPF is to provide a safe and secure environment to support the government, successfully host the Pacific Games.

She said the workshop is very important for the RSIPF Security Planning Team to learn from their counter-parts experiences of such big events.

“What we have learnt in this workshop will assist and enhance the RSIPF progress and its plans according to our local context”, Thugea said.   

Thugea acknowledges the CPLT support in facilitating the workshop, which provides an opportunity for exchanging of ideas and experiences as RSIPF prepares security-planning arrangements for a safe PG23.

Police Media Unit said GAO Yuan of the CPLT an expert on Major Event Security highlight the content of the workshop, focused mainly on ticket and cards management, on-site supervision and application of technology systems involved in the security operation of large-scale events, and sharing experience of the Beijing Summer and Winter Olympics. CPLT is here to support RSIPF for capacity building and work with the RSIPF PG23 security planning team.

Lead Planner of the Pacific Game Security Planning Team Superintendent Fred Suhara says, “I appreciate the training offered by the CPLT with Beijing Summer and Winter Olympics experiences. The participants were given some insights on the Beijing Summer and Winter Olympics experiences. Site visit to the main stadium and venues is essential to the PG23 security planning next step.”

Officers of the RSIPF PG23 Security Planning Team and Supervising Director National Event Management and Special Event Planning (NEMSEP), Inspector Harry Vanosi attended the workshop.
