Twelve vehicles detained over the weekend in Police Operation

Police have confirmed that twelve vehicles were detained during a weekend operation.

According to them, the operation is a crucial component of the ongoing “Safe Green Games” initiative, spearheaded by the police and other law enforcement agencies. The initiative aims to prepare for the upcoming Pacific Games 2023 (PG23), scheduled to be hosted in November.

Superintendent William Foufaka, Director of the NTD, explained that the primary objective of this operation was to identify and apprehend vehicle drivers who were either operating under the influence of alcohol, driving unlicensed motor vehicles, or driving without a valid license.

Superintendent Foufaka emphasized, “All drivers involved in the operation were charged with driving unlicensed motor vehicles and subsequently granted bail. They are scheduled to appear in Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court at a later date.”

The police department has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting regular traffic checks leading up to, during, and after the Pacific Games to ensure road safety and compliance with traffic laws.
