THE Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province successfully apprehended a total of 45 suspects as part of their Christmas and New Year operation. Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu, the Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Western Province, provided details on the arrests made during the period from December 23, 2023, to January 5, 2024, across various police stations in the region.

PPC Lenialu highlighted that Shege Police Station recorded the highest number of arrests, totaling sixteen, followed by Kulitanai Police Station with twelve, and Gizo Police Station with eight. Munda Police Station accounted for seven arrests, while Noro and Parakasi each had one arrest.

Chief Superintendent Lenialu emphasized that the majority of the cases were related to petty crimes, with only one case involving attempted murder, which is currently under investigation, and the suspect is yet to be apprehended. All suspects have been addressed and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Lenialu urged suspects still at large to surrender themselves to the police, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between communities and law enforcement. He emphasized the need for continued cooperation to ensure the apprehension of individuals who are still evading arrest.

The police are committed to maintaining public safety, and Lenialu’s appeal for community support underscores the collective responsibility in maintaining law and order in Western Province.
