Australian High Commissioner His Excellency Rod Hilton and Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Finance and Treasury McKinnie Dentana sign the financial arrangement
AUSTRALIA is pleased to provide the Solomon Islands Government with AUD 4 million (approx. SBD 21.6 million) in funding to support its 2024 Budget.
Australia’s funding is delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and Treasury to support the Solomon Islands Government to meet its priorities, which include health, education, and the elections in 2024.
Acting High Commissioner Andrew Schloeffel met with Caretaker Finance Minister Harry Kuma on Friday 26 January after the financial agreement was paid to Solomon Islands Government. This followed the signing of the financial arrangement by Australian High Commissioner His Excellency Rod Hilton and Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Finance and Treasury McKinnie Dentana.
This AUD 4 million is in addition to Australia’s existing AUD 25 million commitment for budget support towards the 2024 elections.
Australia works in partnership with Solomon Islands and other donors through Joint Policy Reform Group (JPRG) to provide budget support to Solomon Islands. The JPRG is led by the Solomon Islands Government to foster policy dialogue on the government’s economic and fiscal reforms and coordinate development partner budget support.
